From the Acropolis you have a stunning view of cosmopolitan Athens. You can see the excavations of the old city, the modern port of Piraeus, the houses and the mountains surrounding Athens. When you look down, you see a maze of small alleys and big avenues, shops, museums, restaurants and coffee shops, kiosks, the remainders of an ancient temple next to a rooftop swimming pool. The question is: “Where to start when you decide to explore this city?”

It is our pleasure to assist you in discovering Athens. Together with your Greek, English or Dutch speaking guide you visit the most beautiful places in the center. From the Acropolis and in the Agora you can admire the remainders of Ancient Greece. We can also visit a museum for modern Greek Art., or we can introduce you into the Greek traditions and you can indulge in Greek food and music. Together with your Greek, English, or Dutch speaking guide you will discover Greece from a complete new perspective, with the emphasis on daily life and culture.
All our visits offer you the required space to further explore Athens at your own leisure.

General Information

Custom-made programs are available, for any dates between October and June (no programs during the months of July, August and September). Please book well in advance!

We can work out an individual program, based upon your wishes and/or requirements. Individuals, clubs, associations, a group of friends, schools, universities, companies, embassies, etc… are welcome.

You can choose between the following suggestions:

Guided walk in the city centre of Athens (3 hrs)

a. "Around the Acropolis" Walk

This tour is meant as an introduction to Athens, showing you the very nice areas and interesting points of Athens. The tour starts at the Thission Metro station. We will walk along the picturesque pedestrian walkway of Apostolou Pavlou street, followed by a walk up scenic Pnyx Hill and Philopappus Hill where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Acropolis and you will have a spectacular view of the city which opens up below you. Walking down you will see the charming Byzantine church of St. Demetrius. We continue our walk along the Ancient Agora towards the “Anafiotika” neighborhood, and will walk further down towards Monasteraki, passing the Roman Agora.

b. Athens Centre Walk

This walk will show you the most important buildings of Centre Athens, explaining its modern and ancient history. Starting point : Sintagma Metro station.
You will first visit shortly the archeological displays at Sintagma Metro Station. Afterwards your guide will take you to the House of Parliament, in front of which you can see the Evzones – the presidential guards. After this you will cross the National Gardens to Herod Atticus Road, where you will see the Presidential Residence. Walking down this road you will be able to admire the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. The walk continues to the temple of Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, passing as well the beautiful neoclassical Zappeion Hall. Finally we reach the most touristy neighbourhood of Athens – Plaka, at the food of the Acroplis. A walk through this unique area will take you past fascinating houses and monuments. The tour ends at Monasteraki square, next to the Monasteraki Metro station.

Guided visit to the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum and/or the ancient Greek agora (each visit 2 to 3 hrs).

Being in Athens, you should not miss visiting the Acropolis! The tour starts at the Acropolis metro station, where your guide will show you the archaeological displays. Next to the metro station is the New Acropolis Museum. From there, a ten-minute walk up the beautiful Dionyssio Areopagitou pedestrian walkway will bring you to the glorious monuments of the Acropolis with its spectacular views over the city below. Follow the footsteps of the millions of people that have been visiting the acropolis before you. Visitors have been amazed by the political ideals, deep religious feelings and high social and financial standards that resulted in these constructions 2500 years ago.

Visit to an exhibition or museum of Greek Art
Introduction course to the Greek language: Greek for travel purposes (1.5 hrs)
Introduction to Greek customs and traditions (2 hrs)
Meal (dinner or lunch) in a typical Greek taverna
Introduction in the Greek music: who are Theodorakis and Hatzidakis, what are „sirtaki“, „rebetika“, „bouzouki“, „dimotika“ and what is being composed in the 21st century in Greece?

Your Guides

During your activities, walks and dinners in a taverna, you will be accompanied by a Greek, English, German or Dutch speaking guide, who can make all the necessary translations.
They’ve all lived in Greece for longer than 10 years, are friendly, knowledgeable and experienced and will help to give you a fascinating insight into the different aspects of Greek life in a remarkably short period of time.

Hotel Accommodation

For your accommodation, you can find hundreds of hotels on the internet, or through your travel agent (with or without booking your flight together). We suggest to always book a hotel which is located close to a metro station. It is convenient to have a hotel in the centre (Sintagma, Plaka, Acropolis, Koukaki, Kolonaki, Thission area), so you can visit the city and museums and you are close to theatre and musical performances in the evening.
