A Greek e-Shop “masaresi.com” and free Greek language lesson!

masaresi

We are proud to announce that on May 15, 2019, a brand new Greek eShop went online.  Take a look at masaresi.com!

How did it all start?
Maya, the co-founder of Omilo, had a dream….to find a way to publish the many materials, eBooks, language books, and even video lessons created during the 23 years that the “Omilo Greek Language and Culture” school had been in existence. But Maya’s dream did not stop there…

As many know, at Omilo, we not only offer excellent Greek language courses, but also cultural activities. This is because we believe that culture and language go hand in hand.

The mission of masaresi.com is to bring you closer to Greek language and culture in general, not only through Omilo, but also via eBooks, printed books, workshops, and original art objects created by various freelancers in Greece. In addition, masaresi.com helps you discover the “real Greece” by recommending pleasant accommodations that are far away from tour operators and mass tourism.Creativity needs time, devotion and energy. When a person creates a product or offers a wonderful service, there is usually little time to think of anything else. Masaresi.com aims to help creative freelancers with the marketing and sales of any of their products we like (mas aresi!) and want to promote.

Mas aresi – (μας αρέσει) means “We like it” in Greek.
If you do not yet know how to say this in Greek, then take a look at the video below. It is a free language lesson where teacher Terpsi explains how to say such useful phrases as I like it, Do you like it, I do not like it, etc…

Now that you have gotten a taste of Greek in a video lesson, here is your written Greek lesson:

Μ’ αρέσει ο καφές                       I like coffee
Μ’ αρέσει η μουσική                   Ι like music
Μ’ αρέσει το θέατρο                   I like theatre
Μ’ αρέσει η Ελλάδα                    I like Greece
OR
Δεν μ’άρέσει το θέατρο              I do not like theatre.

N.B.:
The correct forms are:
“μου αρέσει” (I like it) , but  most Greeks say “μ’αρέσει”
“σου αρέσει ;” (Do you like it?), but you will most likely hear “ σ’αρέσει;”

When you want to say  “ we like,” then you simply say:
Μας αρέσει η μουσική.                We like music.
Μας αρέσει το θέατρο.                 We like theatre.
Μας αρέσει η Ελλάδα!                  We like Greece!
OR
Δεν μας αρέσει το δωμάτιο.       We do not like the room.

Questions Greeks often ask are:
Σ’άρεσει …;                                      Do you like…?
Σ’άρεσει η Ελλάδα;                        Do you like Greece?
Σ’άρεσει το ελληνικό φαγητό;     Do you like Greek food?

You can answer those questions easily in these ways:

Ναι, μ΄αρέσει.                                 Yes, I like (it).
or
Όχι, δεν μ’αρέσει.                           No, I do not like (it).

Ναι, μας αρέσει               .               Yes, we like (it).
or
Όχι, δεν μας αρέσει.                      No, we do not like (it).

M’αρέσει πολύ!                               I like it a lot!
Mας αρέσει πολύ!                          We like it a lot!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We hope you will join us in exploring the language, art, and culture of Greece today, and of course, we hope you will soon say, I like the eShop masaresi.com a lot! (M’aresei to “masaresi.com” polί!)
M’αρέσει το «masaresi.com» πολύ!  😊
